These two! We seriously laughed during their whole engagement session. It was one of those sessions where I left re-energized and in even more in love with this photographer life. Here are a few favorites from our session.

Kandice and Nate have one of the most easy-going, fun relationships you could ask for. They laugh together and are sweet together. I cannot wait to shoot their wedding in April. Welcome to the EJP family, guys!

Styled Shoot: Boho Wedding Session

Bride and Groom, Fort Myers photographer, Fort myers wedding photographer, Photography thoughts, Southwest Florida Weddings, Weddings. Photography.

Let me start off my saying, I’ve been dreaming about putting together a styled shoot for a long time. I had the most special team come together to make this happen, and I must first start off by thanking them from the very depths of my heart for putting time and energy (and driving) into this! Maicie and Cody, thank you for being so wonderful to drive down from Tampa to be my models (and make shooting this so darn easy)! Tyler at Epic Salon and Suites  and Lauren Gomez, your hair and make-up skills are incredible, keep slaying it. Eddie (Five Oh Films), thank you for being my long-time creative genius, video friend. You are always so encouraging and I know the Behind the Scenes video will be nothing short of amazing. Thank you Tie the Knot Bridal Couture shop for allowing me to photograph a stunning dress. And Devon, for  allowing us (last minute due to a really ugly rain forecast) to use the Sydney & Berne Davis Art Center in Downtown Fort Myers. While most of the session had to be shot indoors due to heavy rain, at the very end we were able to sneak out for a few lovely shots in the rain.

Last Saturday I witnessed the ceremony uniting Katie and Rick as husband and wife. As soon as I arrived I knew it was going to be a special wedding. Katie has a way of making everyone feel so welcomed! And Rick is just a great guy. Together, they are perfect. Wishing you all the happiness you can possibly handle!

Robert and Colleen-Engagement in Roanoke, Va.

Bride and Groom, family portraits. photography, Photography thoughts, Southwest Florida Weddings, Weddings. Photography.

She knew most of his family before she met him, but when Colleen and Robert finally did meet they began a friendship that would turn into something more. I will let these photos speak for themselves; it is clear that they love laughing together and they are incredibly happy.

It was an absolute pleasure to meet Colleen and Robert in such a beautiful setting like Carvins Cove.  This shoot left me wanting more mountains and I’m hoping to go back again soon for more shoots and weddings!

We may have gone back another day to take more pictures there with my kiddos 🙂 I hope you enjoy a few more photos from their engagement session in the mountains. A special thanks to our best friends that helped find this location, due to us not being locals. xoxo

Kayla and Alex

Bride and Groom, Photography thoughts, Southwest Florida Weddings, Weddings. Photography.

As I was driving home from Kayla and Alex’s wedding on Saturday night I was trying to construct this post in my head. One of the biggest ways that I can describe their wedding was fun. Their guest were laughing and dancing and one could feel the love in the air. And this wasn’t just the love between Alex and Kayla, who are high school sweethearts, but from everyone that was in the room. They are sentimental and family driven people, and traditions and heritage mean something to them. I feel completely blessed to have been apart of their wedding.

Kayla and Alex, I wish you nothing but all of the sweetest times ahead. Continue to laugh with each other, be each other’s friend, and you will have a long and beautiful marriage.

Here are a few moments from their wedding at Bonita Bay Country Club.

Even though we only had a few minutes for photos due to rain, we were super excited about the rainbow, obviously 🙂

I am sitting here trying to put in to words exactly what I want to convey to you. Even as I write this I am in a little bit of awe as to the opportunities that have been presented to me as of recently. A few days ago I made it “official” and announced that I have gone full time as a photographer. This, in and of itself, is fantastic. However, this last year I have worked as both a full time photographer and a high school teacher. And a mom of two busy boys and a wife.

Perhaps there are some of you reading this wondering just what it looks like for someone to get to the exact point that they have been working toward. Perhaps you are burning the midnight oil working multiple jobs just to see your dreams come true. I’m here to say- I feel you. I’m also here to say, NEVER give up on what is important to you.

Maybe you’d like to hear about the very beginning.  I have always loved taking photos. I’m in love with the fact that you can freeze time and preserve a memory. After planning our own November wedding in 2009, I fell in love with wedding photography. That was my “thing” that meant a lot to me. As a wedding gift, my husband gave me my first DSLR camera and I was hooked. From practicing in my backyard with the dog to shooting weddings, families, babies, and everything in between, I can see and feel the growth!

Flash forward a few years and we welcomed two little boys one in 2013 and 2015. Suddenly I had three babies: Two human, and my camera 🙂 All the while I was pushing to see this dream of mine of solely focusing on being a creative to become a reality. In the midst of running my business, I also became a high school teacher at my Alma Mater. Talk about full circle. This was something I wanted too, and I feel incredibly blessed to have met the students and coworkers that I have.

This past fall all the late nights- social networking-getting out of my comfort zone times began to pay off and the dreams of becoming a full time photographer were within my grasp. In January of this year I decided to invest more and more energy into photography, and even when I didn’t know where the next shoot would come from, it was there. I could spend far to long telling you about all of these amazing things that continue to happen, telling me that I have made the right decision, but I don’t want to get to lengthly! Just know that dreams do come true. Keep pushing yourself and keep the faith that you really can do just what your heart is leading you to.

If you have any questions- please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’d love to chat!

St. Pete Wedding at St. Jude Cathedral Church

Kim and Tommy met just shy of two years ago, as their lives were intermingled by friends and family. During their ceremony those of us in attendance could see just how blessed they were to have found one another. Their family and friends shared stories of the bride and groom as individuals and prayed for their marriage and their own journey that they are starting together. As a photographer, my husband and partner get to attend these weddings and really understand who the couple is by hearing what people around them have to say. Kim and Tommy have a beautiful partnership and we were so happy to be apart of their day.

Here are just a few photos that I have pulled out that tell a little of bit of their story. It has been hard picking photos as there are so many that I love; but here are a just a couple to start out with~

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Wilson!

Liz and Brian’s maternity session in the woods

Bride and Groom, family portraits. photography, Maternity. baby. photography., Photography thoughts, Southwest Florida Weddings, Weddings. Photography.

Last weekend Liz and Brian and I met at Koreshan State Historic site for their maternity session. They are expecting a little baby girl in June; and they couldn’t be more excited! They wanted a woodsy feel to their session and I think Koreshan always provides such a perfect location for this. We laughed a lot during this shoot and I left feeling overjoyed to help share in their story- I hope you enjoy a few more of these photos as I prepare to send out your gallery!

Bride and Groom, family portraits. photography, Maternity. baby. photography., Photography thoughts, Southwest Florida Weddings, Weddings. Photography.

What a wonderful year!! Going through all of my client images was simply amazing. I was blessed to photograph engagements, weddings, pregnancy announcements, babies and families. My website http://www.elsiejphoto.com went live this year, and that was a labor of love!

At the beginning of each year I set goals for my personal and professional life, so here is what we are looking at for 2017:

Photography goals:

-Photograph more engagements and weddings (and gear towards more destination photography)

-Take more lifestyle photoshoots (all these new babies coming in 2017)!!

-Let you get to know me a little better, and continue to make those connections 🙂

Personal goals:

– Travel even MORE             -Laugh at the little things

-Take a yoga class  and get in shape        -Take more chances

Thank you for all of you that allowed me to follow my dreams. I am beyond blessed. Cheers to 2017, may your year bring all things good.
